LASIK in Los Angeles

LASIK in Los Angeles, Done the Berg-Feinfield Way

Los Angeles has no shortage of LASIK centers. What sets Berg-Feinfield Vision Correction apart is a combination patients rarely find in one place: a surgeon who has performed more than 50,000 LASIK procedures, a practice that has served Southern California since 1980, all-laser technology at every step, and five offices that put that expertise within a short drive of most of Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles LASIK surgeon other surgeons choose

Dr. Alan M. Berg, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a pioneer of refractive surgery, beginning with radial keratotomy (RK) and continuing through every generation of laser vision correction since. He has performed more than 50,000 LASIK procedures — including on his own partner, Dr. Robert Feinfield. Honored as a VISX Star Surgeon, a distinction reserved for the top 5% of LASIK surgeons in the United States, Dr. Berg was also one of only 50 U.S. surgeons selected for the clinical trials of the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL). He has served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center and at City of Hope, and he has taught LASIK to ophthalmologists across the U.S. and abroad as medical director of the Kobe Laser Center in Japan.

That depth of experience matters because LASIK outcomes depend on judgment as much as on technology: who is a good candidate, which treatment profile fits an individual cornea, and when a different procedure — PRK, EVO ICL, or refractive lens exchange — will serve a patient better. At Berg-Feinfield you get a straight answer either way.

All-laser, bladeless LASIK — no exceptions

Every LASIK procedure at Berg-Feinfield is 100% bladeless. A femtosecond laser creates the corneal flap — never a mechanical microkeratome — for greater consistency and safety. Treatment is planned with iDesign 2 Advanced WaveScan, a 3D mapping system that captures more than 1,200 micro-measurements of each eye so your correction is built around your unique optics rather than a generic prescription, and it is delivered with the Alcon WaveLight Pro excimer laser, which tailors every pulse to the eye for sharper vision, faster treatment, and minimal downtime.

This is the platform combination Dr. Berg has chosen to use exclusively. Explore our LASIK technology.

What LASIK costs in Los Angeles

LASIK is advertised in Los Angeles anywhere from $299 to $3,500 per eye, and that spread reflects real differences. Bargain quotes usually apply only to mild prescriptions, rely on older blade-based technology, and bill pre-op testing, follow-up visits, and enhancements separately. Berg-Feinfield quotes one all-inclusive price that covers your comprehensive evaluation, custom all-laser treatment, every post-operative visit, and our enhancement policy — confirmed at a free consultation, with no surprise line items.

Financing through CareCredit and Alphaeon Credit, including no-interest plans for qualified applicants, plus FSA and HSA funds, can bring the monthly cost in line with what many patients already spend on contacts and glasses. See the full breakdown on our LASIK cost in Los Angeles page.

Is LASIK right for you?

LASIK is FDA-approved for adults 18 and older; the ideal candidate is typically 18–45 with a prescription that has been stable for at least a year, healthy corneas, and no active eye disease. If you are over 40 and beginning to need reading glasses, LASIK still corrects distance vision, but refractive lens exchange may be the better long-term fit. Higher prescriptions or thinner corneas may point toward EVO ICL or PRK instead.

Your consultation includes corneal mapping and a candid review of every option. Not sure where to start? Take our two-minute Vision Correction Self-Test.

What to expect from LASIK at Berg-Feinfield

The process is the same at every Berg-Feinfield office: a comprehensive pre-operative evaluation, custom all-laser treatment, and every post-operative visit included in one price, backed by our enhancement policy. Most patients go from their first visit to clear, glasses-free vision within a few weeks.

  • 1. ConsultationA comprehensive exam with corneal mapping, an honest candidacy assessment, and your all-inclusive quote. Consultations are free.
  • 2. ProcedureNumbing drops, about 10 minutes for both eyes with only 20–50 seconds of laser time per eye, and roughly an hour in the office overall.
  • 3. RecoveryMost patients see clearly by the next morning and are back to work, screens, and driving within a day or two. Vision keeps sharpening for several weeks.
  • 4. ResultsThe corneal reshaping is permanent. LASIK does not prevent age-related changes like presbyopia or cataracts, but distance correction typically lasts for decades.

Who is the best LASIK surgeon in Los Angeles?

The best LASIK surgeon for you is board-certified, has a large procedure volume, uses current all-laser technology, and will tell you plainly when LASIK is not your best option. Dr. Alan Berg has performed more than 50,000 LASIK procedures, is a VISX Star Surgeon (top 5% in the U.S.), and practices at a Los Angeles group founded in 1980. How much does LASIK cost in Los Angeles?

Los Angeles LASIK prices range from about $299 to $3,500 per eye depending on technology, customization, and what is included. Berg-Feinfield quotes a single all-inclusive price per eye — evaluation, all-laser treatment, follow-up visits, and enhancement policy — confirmed at a free consultation, with financing available.

How long does LASIK take, and how fast is recovery?

The laser treatment takes about 10 minutes for both eyes, with roughly an hour in the office. Most patients see clearly by the next morning and return to work and driving within a day or two; vision continues to sharpen over the following weeks.
