Dr. Bonnie Sklar is a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery.
Dr. Sklar completed her fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at Duke University Eye Center, where she earned the Golden Apple Award for her outstanding teaching and mentorship. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, one of the nation’s leading centers for ophthalmic care. She received her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. She completed her undergraduate studies in Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University, where she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Dr. Sklar is passionate about global health and expanding access to vision care worldwide. She has volunteered on medical missions in Honduras, Sierra Leone, Kenya, and Mongolia, helping perform sight-restoring surgeries.
In addition to her international work, Dr. Sklar has authored numerous publications in leading ophthalmology journals and presented her research at national conferences.
Her clinical interests include complex cataract surgery, premium cataract surgery with femtosecond laser technology, laser vision correction, corneal transplantation (DMEK, DSEK, PKP), corneal cross-linking for keratoconus, and treatment of ocular surface disease. Dr. Sklar takes pride in providing compassionate, personalized care and helping every patient achieve their best possible vision.
When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Sklar enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and exploring the outdoors.
