Implantable Collamer lenses, also referred to as phakic intraocular lenses, or IOLs, and can be permanently implanted into the eye for instant correction of nearsightedness and astigmatism. The eye’s natural lens remains intact while tiny correction lenses made from biocompatible material are placed inside the eye. Implantable Collamer lenses are most popular with patients who have high degrees of correction that may not make good laser vision correction candidates.
