LASIK treatment options for fixing Farsightedness
In Burbank, Sherman Oaks, San Marino, and Greater Los Angeles, California
Farsightedness or hyperopia, is usually caused by an eyeball that has developed shorter in size than normal, or a cornea that is unusually flattened. People who are farsighted are able to see distant objects more clearly, however, all objects may be blurred. When this happens, light passing through a short eye or flat cornea reaches the retina before it is brought into focus, resulting in an out of focus image at close distances.
LASIK corrects the condition of farsightedness by gently reshaping the cornea to change the shape. The cornea is corrected with painless laser light, and a successful procedure allows patients to effectively view objects.
How is Natural Vision Created?
Light passes through the cornea, the eye's transparent outer window when the eye is open. The cornea then directs the light through the pupil, located in the middle of the colored part of the eye, called the iris. Once pas the pupil, light passes through the eye's natural lens, which fine-focuses the light directly onto the retina in the back of the eye. The brain interprets the chemicals and nerve impulses that the light is changed into by the retina.
